We love our friends at the state and federal government and want to make sure that we are aligned in all things interoperability with our important non-Epic partners. We've formed several strategic partnerships to enable cross org discussions and establish a trusted network to resolve inter-entity concerns and challenges. We work heard together to define ways to optimize interop workflows.
WHY DOES THIS MATTER?
State and federal agencies can have close ties and regulatory obligations to receive and consume health care organization data, so we have set up some strategic partnerships with key leads from several agencies in which there is mutual benefit from meeting and sharing. These sessions enable us to have cross org discussions and establish a trusted network to resolve inter-entity concerns and challenges. Define ways to optimize interop workflows. The purpose of these connections is to strengthen our community relationships by forming collaborations with a non-Epic organizations or DHS agencies that could lead to improved communication, escalation and standards for Epic organizations.

WHAT HAVE WE DONE SO FAR?
✓ eCR: Identified an optimization opportunity with the eCR team to include more notes types as part of eCR submissions. This reduces follow-up calls and chart “digging” to get to necessarily information.
✓ WIC: Developed a recommended workflow to eliminate in person visits for WIC program onboarding AND created a way to eliminate faxes for Specialty Formula Requests.
✓ WIR: Discussed and resolved numerous Immunization challenges with the WIR team leads.
✓ VA: Standardized the Issue Escalation Workflow with the VA – which has been adopted by all Epic organizations as the way to communicate HIE issues with the VA team.
WHAT IS THE TIMING/CADENCE?
➢ The majority of these sessions follow a quarterly cadence and there is no end in sight for what we can discuss.
➢ Most have already begun, but it’s not too late to join.
